Ninth & Tenth Graders Receive Chromebooks
We are excited to announce that we are now going to be allowing all students in grades 9 and 10 to receive a Chromebook to use as their own device, with the option of taking the device home. This technology continues to be an integral part of Oriskany’s Innovation Initiative. It provides the students and teachers with considerably more resources and tools for learning.
In order to have the privilege to take the Chromebook home, a parent / guardian and student must attend an orientation on Tuesday, January 24, OR Wednesday, January 25, (Snow Date: Thursday, January 26), at 6:30 pm in the High School Auditorium. Letters have been mailed home to all ninth and tenth grade families.
On Wednesday, January 18th, from 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. in the Jr. /Sr. High School Auditorium, the district will be hosting a community event on Social Media Awareness.
Mr. Joseph J. Bufano, Esq., Ferrara Fiorenza PC will engage the adult audience in a dialogue about their children's use of social media to include online platforms, and other applications. Today's youth are mastering the use of new technologies at a very fast pace, and new technologies are introduced, on what seems to be, a daily basis. It is ever more important that parents and guardians understand these technologies and best practices for monitoring their children's use of social media.
Please be sure to join us for this very informative event.
