Welcome to N.A. Walbran Elementary School
Dear Students, Parents/Guardians and Community Members,
We have had a productive summer at N.A. Walbran! We held two “camps” here. One was a Technology Camp for our incoming fourth through sixth graders and an ABC Boot Camp for all incoming kindergarteners. In addition, our elementary library held “Open Library and Story Hour” once a week throughout the summer. We cleaned and prepared classrooms in anticipation of a wonderful year. Faculty and Staff attended a variety of trainings including NYS ELA and Math Next Generation Standards, G Suite for Education (Technology), and a book study on children dealing with trauma.
For the 2019-20 school year, we plan to continue many of our initiatives. Our PBIS program, in conjunction with the Positivity Project, will continue with “The Walbran Way: Be responsible. Be respectful. Be safe.” We will be adding “Be yourself” to our “Walbran Way” to encourage self growth and understanding of others. This year’s theme, “Be All You Can BEE,” will focus on “The Walbran Way,” with activities, our Walbran traditions, and events to instill a love of reading, innovation, building positive relationships, and growth mindset.
We are excited to meet you and show you our school at Open House on Thursday, September 12, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. To keep informed on upcoming events, I encourage you to check out our school website as well as my Facebook page (“Oriskany Elementary Principal”) and our district page at “Oriskany Central School District.”
We look forward to seeing everyone on our first day of school on Thursday, September 5! Our PTA will be hosting a “First Day Cafe” in room 1 at the elementary school for parents and guardians at 8:30 - 9:00 am that morning.
Be all that you can BEE this school year!
