Mrs. Mucurio

Welcome to N.A. Walbran Elementary School

  • I am honored to have this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Catherine Mucurio and I have been given the privilege of becoming the new building principal at N.A. Walbran Elementary School. Since the beginning of my career in education, I have been passionate in my commitment to maximizing individual performance, providing a safe and comfortable learning environment and encouraging a sense of pride among all members of the school community. I have heard amazing things about this community, and I am looking forward to continuing the current traditions and working together to create new and exciting opportunities for our school.

As a new member of this community, allow me to take a moment to provide some background on myself and my experiences. I am a graduate of the University at Albany, City College of New York and The College of Saint Rose. I began my career in education in the New York City Department of Education as an elementary teacher with a focus on students with disabilities. After moving back upstate, I was able to continue my teaching in the Rome City School District and move into administration as the Assistant Director of Supported Learning and Principal of the Early Childhood Program. These experiences over the past 12 years have allowed me to grow personally and professionally and understand the importance of building positive relationships and communication with the school community. Outside of school, I am the proud parent of two young daughters and love looking for new, fun adventures to experience with them. In addition, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading and spending time outdoors.

I have a strong belief that the faculty, staff, students and parents are all an essential part of building a great school community. The Oriskany CSD has established a reputation worthy of praise and admiration. I am thankful to be part of continuing to build upon the existing successes of the District, and together, we will provide a caring and safe environment to educate, engage and empower our students.

Some notable events and activities taking place in the upcoming weeks include our “Pick a Reading Partner” (PARP) program. This year’s theme will be “A Sea of Books.” We are also looking forward to our upcoming spirit week, celebration of 100 days of school and our Winter Fun Day.

Thank you, and I look forward to your children’s continued success at N. A. Walbran Elementary School. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at 315-768-2149.

    Sincerely,

    Catherine Mucurio
