New Student Registration
Welcome to the Oriskany Central School District
For your convenience, we offer centralized registration, allowing you the ease of enrolling your child(ren) in one location without having to travel from school to school. We strongly encourage you to register as early as possible to help ensure a smooth start to your child's education experience at their new school. Please allow 30-45 minutes per child for completing the necessary paperwork.
The District Registrar is located at the Jr./Sr. High School, in the Office of Counseling and Career Services. Registration packets are available at the elementary school, N.A. Walbran Elementary or Oriskany Jr./Sr. High School. Please call or email the registrar, Ms. Vaughn, if you have any questions or concerns.

Upon registration, any new student (or his/her parent/guardian) is required to present:
- Proof of age (such as birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport, or proper transfer papers).
- Immunization Records- Proof must be provided that the students meet all New York State immunization requirements, regardless if transferring from a school within state, or out of state. Students transferrin from other countries may be permitted to attend school without required vaccinations for up to 30 days with evidence of good faith effort to obtain immunizations or proof of past immunization.
- Proof of residency- The District seeks documentation to verify the child to be enrolled resides with the parent or person in parental relation, and that the parent or person in parental relation maintains a physical presence in the District that qualifies as a residence.
One of the following preferred: If forms of documentation on the left are not available, the District will accept for review, 2 other forms of documentation of residency, including but not limited to: - Copy of a residential lease or proof of ownership of a house or condominium
- Statement signed by a landlord, property owner, or tenant from whom the adult leases or rents property, or with whom the adult shares property within the District (the District prefers a sworn statement, but this is not required)
- Some other signed statement from a third party establishing that the adult maintains a physical presence within the District
- Pay stub
- Income tax form
- Utility or other bills
- Membership documents based on residency
- Voter registration documents
- Official driver license, learner permit, or non-driver identification
- State or other government-issued identification or documents relating to government services or benefits
- Evidence of custody of the child
- Copy of a residential lease or proof of ownership of a house or condominium
- Proof of Custody- In situations involving legal separation or divorce, registering parents must prove they are legally authorized to register the child for school. To establish that the child resides with the parent or person in parental relation, the District may request the adult sign an affidavit that the child lawfully resides with them.
- Physician Physical-All new students must have had a physical within the previous 12 months.
- Student Records- The Oriskany Central School District will request additional records from the student's previous school.
What If ...
the youth is not living with a parent?
the parents are separated or divorced?
According to the NYSED Education Department regulations ...
You (the parent, guardian, or caregiver) have to show that the youth is living with you and that you have total and permanent custody and control. To do this, you can show the school district:
- proof of custody or guardianship OR
- an affidavit (written statement signed under oath) saying that you have "total and permanent custody and control" over the child OR
- other proof such as documentation that the child has been placed with a sponsor by a federal agency

Universal Pre-K
The Oriskany Central School District plans on offering a Universal Pre-K program. The program is entirely state funded and is only offered to district residents who have children four years of age on or before December 1 st. Pre-K students attend school for a full day. Busing is provided.
Please be aware that the Universal Pre-K program is contingent upon the New York State budget being passed.

Kindergarten
The Oriskany Central School District is currently registering children who are eligible to attend kindergarten. To be eligible, your child must be a resident of the school district and be 5 years of age on or before December 1st of the current school year.
