Barbeau Receives Antonino and Maria Rizzo Memorial Award

Aidan Barbeau was named a 2024 recipient of the Antonino and Maria Rizzo Memorial Award during the Bridges Graduation Ceremony held at the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES on June 5.

Antonino and Maria Rizzo emigrated from Sicily, Italy in 1968 in search of a new land of opportunity for their children to be educated in America. They cherished all children and believed in their ability to learn and grow. Working in a small village as young children, they saw the promise of the schooling offered in the United States. They established their family in Frankfort, NY, where Antonino was a laborer and Maria was a seamstress. They provided for their family in so many ways -- a home, a garden, an education, lots of love and a basement filled with jars of sauce each year. This award is given to graduating seniors who have overcome significant challenges and value their education.

Aidan demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to learn, always has a smile on his face and works hard to meet expectations. He plans to enter the workforce following graduation.

Congratulations, Aidan and the Bridges Class of 2024!
